Beware!

Ska’d for life festival is super happy to announce that Skaos, one of Germany’s coolest 3rd wave ska bands, will be playing at their festival on Saturday April 13 2024.

Hoog tijd dus! Van deze hoofdact van This is Ska! dit jaar kun je daarom ook in de intieme Moira zaal tijdens ons eigen Ska’d for Life Festival genieten!

The seven strong band Skaos has known a long history as the most influential German Third Wave Ska band. After the first gig in 1987, the band quickly gained popularity with their own songs, such as Oh Sally, Bonehead, and Straight to Your Heart, a well as brilliant covers such as Ska Skank Down Party. In our country, Skaos became well known for being prominent on many SKA compilation albums. Since that time, Skaos has released no less than nine albums. Although SKA fans in almost the whole of Europe, and f.i. Japan and Canada, have already been able to enjoy Skaos, the band has never played in the Netherlands before. So it’s about time! Apart from performing on the central stage of This is Ska! this year, you can admire them in a more intimate setting in the Moira during our own Ska’d for Life Festival!

Last band confirmed!

Spider J & Offbeat Syndicate

Spider Johnson is not only famous for being the lead singer of Potato 5, which he joined in 1989 (following Laurel Aitken), but also for working with Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Mad Professor, Big Youth, Horace Andy and UB40, to name just a few, as well as recording with Madness for their latest album. He is also a professional artist/mentor/producer at Roundhouse, Camden.

A last minute fill in headlining the Irish International Ska and Reggae Festival last October, turned out to be a great success for him and his Utrecht-based backing band. This led to the formation of the brand new Utrecht based band Offbeat Syndicate and the decision of performing as the same combination again, at our very own festival Ska’d for Life! So not only are we happy to announce Spider J on our stage, but also the Dutch debut of Offbeat Syndicate!
